This two week trips travels into the remote Langtang Valley and culminates in an ascent of Yala Peak 5,500m at the head of the valley.
Yala peak has views of Shishpangma and Langtang Lirung. This is a mountaineering peak and it will require the use of a walking Ice axe and crampons. The climb doesn’t require any technical skills but is physically very challenging. The itinerary is written to help you acclimatise to the altitude and you should not over exert yourself when above 3,000m .
We will be staying in Tea houses for the majority of this trip apart from one night at Yala peak base camp where we will be in tents.

Yala peak is considered a non technical trekking peak although due to the high altitude and glaciated terrain you will need more than just the standard trekking gear. Most of this equipment can be hired on arrival in Nepal if you let us know in advance. We can organise or you.

Sunday 19th October Arrival in Kathmandu
Monday 20th October visit to the Monkey Temple and Pusiputinath
Tuesday 21st October Travel to Surya Besi (7-8hrs by minivan) and overnight guesthouse. Long but scenic drive through the Trishuli River valley.
Wednesday 22nd October trek to Lama Hotel 2400m 6hr trekking . First day of trekking through forest and riverside trails. Moderate ascent through oak and rhododendron woods.
Thursday 23rd October trek to Langtang Village 3,300m 7hrs
Friday 24th October Trek to Kyanjing Gompa 3,798m 4hrs. Explore the ancient monastery and nearby cheese factory at Kanjing Gompa. We’ll have Stunning views of Langtang and Yala peaks.
Saturday 25th October Acclimitisation hike to Kyanjin Ri (4773m) 4hrs
Sunday 26th October Trek to Yala Peak base Camp (Tented camp) 4,800m 5hrs Gradual climb over rocky moraines and glacier valleys. We’ll set up camp and review climbing techniques with our Sherpa guide.
Monday 27th October Summit Yala Peak 5,500m and trek to Kyanjoig Gompa. Early alpine start (2–3 AM) We’ll move across snow, ice, and glacial terrain using crampons and ice axe on 30 degree snow slopes.
Tuesday 28th October Extra day in case weather is bad. At the summit we’ll have stunning views of Shispangma and the Tibetan Plateau
Wednesday 29th October trek back to Lama Hotel for a well deserved rest 6hrs
Thursday 30th October trek back to Syra Besi 6hrs
Friday 31st October Durbar square tour and relax in Kathmandu
Saturday 1st November Fly back home at anytime you want to
