We are a small personable travel company founded in 2017 in the United Kingdom. We offer exciting LGBTQ+ friendly adventures around the globe.

Our Aims Are

  • Queer Friendly - Our guides must be open and un-judgemental and welcome you to be yourself; not hide who you are

  • Supportive and Welcoming - Our guides are used to welcoming LGBTQ+ groups and teams and will support and encourage you to be yourself

  • Committed to equal rights - Although many of the countries we visit do not have equal rights for LGBTQ+ people; our local guides and agents are committed to treating you equally and supporting LGBTQ+ rights

  • Giving grassroots organisations a voice - We support local organisations around the World in empowering the rights of women and LGBTQ+ people such as Matriarch Hill Safaris

Pride Expeditions was born out of a desire to climb mountains that lie in countries where LGBTQ rights are not equal to others. We believe the lack of local LGBTQ+ rights should not discourage people from visiting these countries especially as these are the places where positive role models are most urgently needed.

Nick Read, Pride expeditions’ Managing Director, has been running expeditions for many years and personally knows all the local guides we work with. Our local guides are aware of and subscribe to the ethos of Pride Expeditions. Any prejudice faced by clients on our expeditions will be challenged and not brushed off.

Nepal is one of our favourite countries that we visit. Nepal offers the best trips in terms of trekking to Everest Base Camp and other adventurous activities such as white water rafting on the Kalighandaki or trekking in the lofty Annapurna mountain range. The most accessible trekking peaks lie in parts of the World where the outlook if you are Queer is not so positive. It is not illegal to be gay in these countries but it is often an insurmountable challenge.  We have not shied away from these countries but have instead set out to exemplify all the positive aspects of embracing diversity and welcoming LGBTQ+ people. Our in-country agents are pleased to be working with us and support our anti-discrimination agenda.

LGBTQ+ organisations are working within all the countries we visit, often in difficult circumstances and with little funding. We aim to present LGBTQ people in a positive light and give these organisations a reason to have pride in their aims. Links are being forged between LGBTQ+ organisations in all the countries we visit with an aim to promoting equality for all.
