OVERVIEW

Tucked between Austria, Italy, and Croatia, Slovenia is a small country packed with epic landscapes and big adventure. Our journey begins with a flight into the charming capital, Ljubljana. You will need to arrange your own flights.

The main aim of this expedition is an unforgettable ascent of Mount Triglav (2,864m) — Slovenia’s highest and most iconic peak. Rising from the dramatic Julian Alps, Triglav sits within the breathtaking Triglavski National Park, where jagged limestone ridges, emerald valleys, and alpine lakes set the scene for an incredible mountain journey.

The climb involves hands-on scrambling and an exhilarating ridge traverse equipped with a Via Ferrata (iron walkway), allowing us to reach the summit safely while soaking up jaw-dropping views in every direction. Along the way, we’ll stay in traditional mountain huts and cosy pensions, enjoying hearty local food and true alpine hospitality.

But this is far more than just a trek. After four days in the mountains, the adventure shifts gears as we head to Bovec for white-water rafting on the world-famous Soča River. Known for its unreal emerald colour, the river cuts through Slovenia and Italy before flowing into the Adriatic Sea — and offers some of the best rafting in Europe. We will also squeeze in some canyoning too!

Our final night is spent in a lively hostel in Ljubljana, with the chance to explore the capital’s old town, riverside cafés, and vibrant atmosphere — the perfect way to round off an epic week.

All of this comes at an incredible value of just £1,350 for the week. The price includes 7 nights’ accommodation in hostels and mountain huts, all transfers, all activities listed in the itinerary, and all meals except lunches and the final dinner in Ljubljana.

An action-packed week. A summit climb. White-water rafting. Canyoning. Alpine landscapes.

SITUATION

The Situation: Slovenia

Although Slovenia is part of Europe and is gradually becoming more welcoming towards LGBTQ+ people there is still a long way to travel on the road to equality. Same-sex marriage was recently formally legalized. In 2016 the government introduced a anti-discrimination bill so the situation is slowly improving and our providers are welcoming and supportive of Pride Expeditions and wish to welcome our teams to Slovenia.
