WINTER SKILLS DEVELOPMENT COURSE
 

This course is aimed at people with limited experience walking in snow covered hills and mountains . Scotland is the best place to guarantee suitable conditions to learn the techniques of winter walking. The conditions can be tough but we are much more likely to find places to practice the use of crampons and ice axes in Scotland.

This course is ideal for fit people who are already keen summer hill walkers and comforatble being out in any conditions. Our qualified instructors will cover all the skills necessary to safely enjoy a day in the Scottish hills in winter.

Dates can be arranged at your convenience if you are already part of a group of 4 or more. If booking less than a two months in advance please contact us to discuss availability prior to making a deposit payment. We will advertise dates each year for open courses. The course cost does not include accomodation or hire of crampons and an ice axe which can be arranged for you.

Equipment Required

If you require accommodation please let us know and we will help you source accommodation. The advertised price excludes accomodation and food.

Walking in Winter requires good outdoor equipment and clothing as well as specialist equipment such as winter mountaineering boots, crampons and an ice axe. These items are available for hire should you not have your own. Please let us know your height and shoe size if you would like to hire this equipment. This is at an extra cost that will be passed onto you.

Payments

To reserve your place please pay a deposit of £50. Upon receipt you will be sent an information pack including a course itinerary and kit list as well as details of accommodation options should you want us to book this for you.
